Learn about 3D printing and plastics
Introduction to 3D printing
3D printing (or additive manufacturing) refers to the process of making a three dimensional object from a digital file. It is called additive manufacturing because in the 3d printing process, layers of a material are added to one another until the final object is created. The final object is built up of many but thin layers.
Uses of 3D printers
From better prototyping to smarter design …
There are many ways that 3D printers have changed the way the world does things. Applications include rapid prototyping, architectural scale models & maquettes, 3d printed prosthetics and printing with human tissue as well as film props in entertainment.
Plastics manufacturing
Plastics are materials that can be moulded into shapes by applying heat and /or pressure. Plastics manufacturing is the process of moulding these materials into something that we can use in our daily lives.
